Injection therapies are a minimally invasive way to treat chronic, acute and inflammatory pain. As a non-surgical treatment, many patients successfully experience immediate relief and a quick recovery.
Epidural Steroid Injections
Epidural Steroid Injections (ESI’s) are the most commonly used injection therapy for back pain. They are injections delivered with anesthetic and a steroid in the epidural region of the back. The inflamed nerves in the epidural space are able to be treated with the ESI, reducing swelling and the pain.
Hyaluronic Acid Injections
HA injections are often used to treat knee osteoarthritis pain. Otherwise known as the Viscosupplementation treatment method, hyaluronic acid injections are administered into the knee joints to help improve the mobility and function of the knee, while also reducing knee pain.
Occipital Nerve Block
This is an injection of steroid (or other medication) around the greater and lesser occipital nerves that are located on the back of the head just above the neck. The medication from this injection typically starts working in 3-5 days and can last from several days to a few months.
