Pain and Spine Specialists of Maryland is excited to announce the addition of Dr. Mohsin S. Sheikh, a highly respected and experienced pain management physician, to our team.
For over a decade, Dr. Sheikh served the Gaithersburg community as the founder and medical director of Pain, Spine & Rehab Associates, where he built a reputation for his patient-centered approach and commitment to innovative, evidence-based practices.
Since 2016, he has also shared his expertise by teaching as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies at The George Washington University, where he mentors the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Dr. Sheikh’s educational journey reflects his dedication to the field of medicine and his desire to offer comprehensive, holistic care.
He received a dual B.A. in Biology and Psychology from Rutgers University. This laid the foundation for his understanding of both the physical and emotional aspects of patient care. Following this, he earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine.
Dr. Sheikh completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, where he refined his clinical skills and established a solid foundation in patient management.
His leadership and excellence were recognized when he was selected as Chief Resident at Georgetown University Hospital and National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, DC.
He then undertook a fellowship in Pain Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he gained advanced expertise in diagnosing and treating complex pain conditions.
As a board-certified specialist in both physical medicine rehabilitation and pain medicine, Dr. Sheikh brings a unique dual perspective to his practice. This enables him to accurately identify the underlying causes of his patients’ pain and develop personalized treatment plans tailored to their specific needs.
Dr. Sheikh is a strong advocate for non-surgical, minimally invasive therapies, utilizing the latest in medical advancements to help patients regain function and improve their quality of life. His multidisciplinary approach means that he actively collaborates with primary care physicians, specialists, and therapists to provide well-rounded, integrated care.
Renowned for his compassionate bedside manner and his dedication to treating the whole person, Dr. Sheikh has earned the trust and admiration of both his colleagues and his patients.
His commitment to excellence has been recognized through his consistent selection as a “Top Doctor” by Washingtonian magazine for an impressive nine consecutive years, highlighting his status as a leader in the field of pain management.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Sheikh enjoys a rich and fulfilling personal life. He is an avid fan of college basketball and enjoys staying active by playing tennis and pickleball. Travel is another passion, offering him the chance to explore new cultures and experiences.
At home in Rockville, Maryland, Dr. Sheikh cherishes time spent with his wife and their two daughters, finding balance and inspiration in family life.
